The technique of Gyotaku (pronounced
with a hard G as in get) is from Japan where its popular among sports fishermen as
an artistic and accurate way to record the size and species of their catch.
The number-one reason why I make
Gyotaku prints is to authenticate the fishs true dimension. Art brings its chi, its spirit, back by your
understanding of it.
If you want a piece of Oregon, the
indigenous sand bordered, signed and numbers prints small and large, are area treasures. They show salmon prints, sun and moonlit scenes of
waterfalls and the forested Pacific wonderland.
The signed and numbered Gyotaku prints,
are available, as well as small prints 7x10 $60.00 and 14 x 20
$100.00. Signed and numbered Note cards are also available for $7.00 each.
Since 1990 Roger has contributed
original salmon banners to the River Steward Award at the Oxbow Salmon Festival honoring
someone for his or her work commitment to the conservation of salmon, other native fish
and river habitats.
